Since Sizekhaya Holdings took over the National Lottery from Ithuba on 1 June 2026, the game has been called MatchPlay 13. The way it is played is essentially unchanged, and most people still search for it as SportStake.
The results above show the latest MatchPlay 13 round: every match, whether it was a home win, draw or away win, and the payout for each prize division. Below, we explain how the game works and how it differs from TAB's Soccer 13, a separate pool that many South African players confuse it with.
How does SportStake 13 (MatchPlay 13) work?
MatchPlay 13 is a pooled game, not a fixed-odds bet. The National Lottery publishes a list of 13 football matches for each round, and you predict the full-time result of each one: a home win, a draw or an away win. Everyone pays a set fee per board into a shared prize pool, and that pool is divided among the winning boards in each division.
You do not need all 13 correct to win something, which is a key point many first-time players miss. You need at least 10 correct results to win a prize, and the more you call right, the higher the division you reach. There are usually two lists a week, a weekend list and a midweek list, each with its own list number. Fixtures, cut-off times and the fee per board are published for each round, so always check the current round before you enter.

How is SportStake 13 different from Soccer 13?
The two games look similar but are separate pools with different matches and different payouts. SportStake 13, now MatchPlay 13, is a National Lottery game, run by Sizekhaya since June 2026 and regulated as a lottery product. Soccer 13 is a TAB tote pool, run with Svenska Spel in Sweden, where South African bets are added to the Swedish host pool.
They also write results differently. TAB tickets use 1 for a Team A win, 2 for a draw and 3 for a Team B win, so a 2 on a TAB ticket is a draw. Always check your ticket against the results for the game you actually played.
