Soccer Pools Payout Rules Explained
This page sets out the payout rules behind every TAB soccer pool on this site, taken directly from TAB's own Chapter 6 rulebook (soccer6.co.za/rules), plus real examples from TAB's own results feed showing what the rules produce in practice.
None of this changes how you enter a pool; it explains what happens once the matches are played, including the two situations that confuse people most: a match that never kicks off, and Soccer 13's occasional "drawn by lot" result.
The dividend formula
Every TAB soccer pool dividend comes from the same starting point: the net pool (total stakes for that pool, after TAB's deduction) divided among the winning unit bets. For a single-tier pool the whole net pool goes to whoever got every leg right. For a multi-tier pool, TAB splits the net pool into fixed percentage tiers first, then applies the same division within each tier.
Single-tier pools: Soccer 6 and Soccer 4
Soccer 6 and Soccer 4 pay one dividend: get every leg right, or the ticket wins nothing. Real example, read from TAB's own results feed today: the Soccer 6 pool that closed 2026-09-14 (program 6JJ, coupon V3 P2) had a net pool of R237,838.86 shared by 234 winning tickets, a dividend of R1,016.40 each. The Soccer 4 pool that closed 2026-09-12 (program SGG, coupon V1 P2) produced the winning combination 5/4/4/5, a net pool of R111,763.60 and 10 winning tickets, a dividend of R11,176.20 each.
Multi-tier pools: the split by pool
| Pool | Tiers | Split of the net pool | TAB rule |
|---|---|---|---|
| Soccer 10 | 10/10, any 9/10 | 80% / 20% | 6.10.4 |
| Soccer 13, Saturday pool | 13, 12, 11, 10 of 13 | 40% / 15% / 12% / 25%, plus 8% set aside for a Guaranteed Fund | 6.14.1.4 |
| Soccer 13, Sunday & midweek pool | 13, 12, 11, 10 of 13 | 39% / 22% / 12% / 25% | 6.14.2.4 |
| Soccer Any 13 Xtra | Pool A (13 of 13), Pool B (12 of 13, or the next tier down) | 70% / 30% | 6.13.4 |
How an unwon tier carries over
The general rule across TAB's soccer pools is that an unwon net pool is carried forward to a later pool of the same kind, within 12 months of the original (rule 6.1.8 and its equivalents). Two pools have their own extra wrinkle worth knowing. Soccer 13 discards any winning group whose dividend per line works out to less than 15 Swedish krona and carries that amount over to the 13/13 group of the following week's pool instead (rule 6.14.1.8 and 6.14.2.8); a carryover also applies whenever nobody hits 13/13 at all. Soccer Any 13 Xtra moves Pool B down through 11, 10, 9 and 8 of 13 if nobody hits 12, and only carries forward to a future Pool A if none of those tiers has a winner either. TAB's rule also makes a point of stating that a single entry which wins Pool A does not also collect a Pool B consolation payout on that same ticket (rule 6.13.5.1.2), which is worth knowing if you are staking one line rather than a permutation.
Postponed or abandoned matches: the "Field" result
Under TAB's rules, any match not completed by 9am on the day after the last scheduled match day in that pool is deemed abandoned, and every choice on that leg counts as correct (rule 6.1.5 and its equivalents across the chapter). TAB's own results feed marks this with the token "Field-Field": for example, the Soccer 10 pool that closed 2026-09-16 (program SJJ, coupon V2) shows match 10 as "Field-Field" rather than a score, because that fixture was not completed in time.
What differs between pools is when a Field result forces a full refund instead of just qualifying every choice. Soccer 10, Soccer 6 and Soccer 4 only refund a pool if every match in it is abandoned. Soccer Any 13 Xtra is stricter: if 18 or more of the 30 listed matches are deemed abandoned, the entire pool is refunded (rule 6.13.8), even though only 13 of those 30 matter to any one ticket.
Soccer 13's drawn-by-lot result ("Lottad")
Soccer 13 is hosted by Svenska Spel in Sweden, and it handles an incomplete match differently to every other TAB soccer pool. If a match kicks off before the pool closes, is not concluded by the end of the pool, or is interrupted, TAB's rules first give it a grace period: if the game is rescheduled and played within 2 days of its original date, the bet stays open and the real result is used once it is known (rule 6.14.1.5 / 6.14.2.5). Only if the match is not played within that 2-day window is the result decided by a computer-supervised draw from a pool of 16 lots: 10 based on individual expert predictions, plus 2 lots each for a home win, a draw and an away win (rule 6.14.1.3.3 / 6.14.2.3.3), carried out under the supervision of the Swedish Gaming Board. TAB's results feed marks a lot-drawn leg "Lottad-Lottad": a real example from the pool that closed 2026-09-16 (program SWW, coupon V2) shows match 12 settled this way. Soccer Any 13 Xtra, despite the similar name, does not use the lot draw at all; an incomplete Xtra leg is simply abandoned under the ordinary Field rule above.
Frequently asked questions
How is a TAB soccer pool dividend actually calculated?+
TAB takes the net pool for that tier and divides it by the number of winning unit bets in that tier. A single-tier pool like Soccer 6 or Soccer 4 does this once, for the one dividend it pays. A multi-tier pool like Soccer 10, Soccer 13 or Soccer Any 13 Xtra first splits the net pool into fixed percentage tiers, then divides each tier the same way.
What does it mean when a result shows "Field" instead of a score?+
It means that match was not completed by 9am on the day after the last scheduled match day of that pool, so TAB's rules treat it as abandoned and count every choice on that leg as correct. It is not an error on our page; it is TAB's own published token for that fixture.
Why does Soccer 13 sometimes show a result as "drawn by lot"?+
Soccer 13 is hosted by Svenska Spel under Swedish rules. If a match is not played within 2 days of its original date, the result is decided by a computer draw from 16 lots (10 expert predictions and 2 each for home win, draw and away win), supervised by the Swedish Gaming Board, rather than by the ordinary "every choice qualifies" rule other TAB pools use.
Does Soccer Any 13 Xtra use the same lot draw as Soccer 13?+
No. Even though the names look similar, Soccer Any 13 Xtra follows the standard TAB abandoned-match rule: an incomplete leg qualifies every choice. It only refunds the whole pool in the specific case where 18 or more of its 30 listed matches are abandoned.
If nobody wins a tier, is that money lost?+
No, it carries forward to a later pool of the same kind, generally within 12 months. Soccer 13 has its own version of this for small per-line dividends under 15 Swedish krona, and Soccer Any 13 Xtra moves an unwon Pool B down through lower tiers before it carries forward at all.
